I am trying to net use from a w2k prof machine to a OS/2 warp 4 machine and can't. I am running through a Cisco 803 router and have set a static ip address on both machines. I have an administrator account on the w2k machine and on the Os/2 box? Thanks in advance. Jus

Can you give example of your net use statement?

net use j: \\ip address of machine\sharename /user:administrator

As I've not touched OS/2 for over 6 years, I don't know how 2k maps to it - but couple of suggestions/questions:-

1. How is the share defined on OS/2 (does it need a password and/or particular username/password to access it?)
Is user (administrator) name/password same on 2k and OS/2 machines?

2. What error/fail message fo you get?

3. Have you tried without the /user qualification?

I know that mapping from win2k to win98 works differently. This may apply to OS/2 also. For username, you have to use the sharename. Then supply either the read-only password or the full-access password.

thankyou - it was to do with the user id password i have been using. Sorry for the late reply.
