I am running office 2000 on windows 98. Everytime I open excel...my standard toolbar has 4 or 5 custom buttons on it. I always select customize and reset to get rid of them but if i close it and reopen...they will be right back. What is causing this?

P.S. If you click on the buttons...nothing happens...it flickers a little and that is all.

Please help me someone...I am quite perplexed. Ya' Gotta Love It!

Not sure....
1) With Excel closed, find your .xlb file, I think it's in the \windows directory. Cut it to someplace else, like your Temp directory. Open Excel, change a Tools Options setting or two, then exit Excel.

2) With Toolbars Customize open, click on the offending buttons and drag them off the toolbar, then exit Excel.

3) With Toolbars Customize open, right click on one of the offending buttons and select Assign macro. This may then give a clue as to the source of trouble.

4) When did they first occur? Have you loaded any software recently?

That's all I can think of.

Thanks for the advice JV, I will try that when I get home tonight. Ya' Gotta Love It!

ok...Breaking news...

It does have a macro on the new buttons...one called "LaunchTheDSObject" and it is set for all open workbooks.

It adds a new button everytime I open the application. If I open it 5 times...there will be 5 new buttons in the standard toolbar.

Any Ideas? Ya' Gotta Love It!

Did you complete suggestion #1? If yes, we can eliminate the source being in the .xlb file. Honestly, I don't know if "it" would be in there, but we can still eliminate it!

Does your shortcut to Excel include a pass through startup file? Something like :
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\EXCEL.EXE startup.xls"

Have you checked Tools Addins and cleared all ?

Running out of ideas. Hopefully one of these hits the mark.

Do you have Adobe Photo Deluxe installed? We had this same problem and found the fix (I believe) on the MS site in Office support. Suggest you do a search there for Photo Deluxe problems. Good luck!
