I am new to JBoss can any one help me
what is the difference between ejb-jar.xml and jboss.xml (both are deployment descriptor for jboss)?

best ask in the J2EE forum, more chance there.

my guess (educated but not by JBoss) is that the ejb-jar.xml is a generic config file defined by Sun (in fact I know this to be so) while jboss.xml contains jboss specific settings (like the actual locations of JNDI resources and mappings of security roles defined in ejb-jar.xml to internal security roles for JBoss).

ejb-jar.xml is a deployment descriptor for the app server (ie JBoss) which describes the methods and names of your EJB (Enterprise JavaBean) components.

jboss.jcml is a deployment descriptor for configuring jboss on startup (ie Datasource JDBC pool names, servlet configurations etc etc).
