onmonitor allows you to see and change the database configuration. It also allows you to start and stop the database. oninit is used to initialize and start a downed instance of the database. onconfig is the configuration file for your database instance. In general onmonitor is all you need for basic administration task. The administration manual has detailed descriptions.
