I am merely trying to define an ODBC Data Source Name, to a domain on our system. It appears that everything is done correctly. However, when anyone clicks on the link, to access the very first page--they are prompted for a user name and password.

I am on the Network, so when I enter my network user name and password, I get right in.

However, we want web users to be able to browse and search this database--without any password.

What am I doing wrong? You're advise and assistance is greatly apprectiated.

Well, it could be a few things. First, do you have the website security set to use the anonymous NT account? If so, then do you have the SQL Server database user account entered in the ODBC login? Most likely if the first thing that happens when clicking on the link is a login screen, then the problem must be the security is not set correctly for the website. Have you tried browsing to the site from
an external source or dialup link.

Hope this helps.

Apply the Web guest (IUSR_MachName and IWAM_MachName)account to the directory where the data resides, when a remote client access your web via the internet IIS impersonates this user if this guest account does not have permissions for the resourse a login dialoge will appeare.
