I have the lec sending down 4 digits. My BTN is 0233. It does not like the zero. All other DID's work fine. Of course this is a ported line, and the BTN of course. I have requested that they send down 7 digits. What else do I do to fix it?

0 is most likley for your Operator.

is this jusy 1 DID number or every DID that starts with
:ie 0000-09999

can you be more clear in what your trying to do?

is this a number you had somewhere else and are having it sent to another switch?

is it 1 number or a range of numbers?

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Set your direct dial digit to something other than 0, or just turn it off it you have no need to dial 0 from a set to reach the operator.

It is a New DID that is being ported from the existing Verizon Roll over group. It is also the Main line. I had to tell them how many digits to send down the trunk. I usually pick 4, but in this case, we can not use 4 because the lead digit is a 0. I have placed a request to send down all 7 digits. That should work, but I have never done it. So do I need only change public recieved to 7? and that is it? or does anything else get changed?

Thank you, I am pretty nervous because my lines port at 4pm.

These are public recieved DID's set up as a Target line. As soon as I put the 0233 in the public recieved field, the DTM card stops. If I delete the entry, it comes right back. All other numbers are perfect. Again, this is for incoming calls to be answered. I am not dialing, they dial us.

if I am thinking about this correctly, when you cahange the recieved number length, you will loose all the entries in you target line recieved number fields....will have to re-enter that info

Why don't just have the Telco send the calls to one of your exisiting DID numbers, thats what I do and then use a target line to send it to the DN you want to get the calls.
You don't need to have them send the old number to you just have the point it to your DID's

You could also request the Telco to send a different 4 digits to you. It's called digit manipulation & the C.O.
will send you what ever 4 digits you choose.

Most TELCO's will manipulate just the leading digit (Qwest is the only one that does not). If you request it during the port.

So if your # is 0233 you can have them send 1233,2233 etc...

I would go with what ace or pccal says and not change my rec to 7 digits. If you don't have a spare DID to oint it to then go with pccal Verizon can send any 4 digits down the pipe. You dial xxx-0233 they send 1234 if you want them to. Good luck

Also when you port trunks, make sure they give you enough CALL PATHS to pass all calls that dial the old number. I found out that the hard way, they only gave us 1 call path and only 1 person at a time could call us. after that we made sure they gave us 10 call paths. some Telco's charge extra for them, most give them for free.

Don't change recvd. digit length it will erase all target lines. Just eliminate the Direct Dial default of zero. Problem over. Then deal with telco at your leisure if people are bummed because they can't dial zero for the recpt. On BCMs very few people dial zero instead of the recpt. ext# anyway.

I got it fixed. Telco had to send all 7 digits. The other ways would surely work, but after some discussions with the provisioning team, they recomended 7 digits recieved. The call path thing will be tested asap because I just read this. Let me tell you this system sucked to install. The old system was 25 years old and consumed the entire room with an amanda PC, and a huge ONYX box with cables everywhere. That new rack mounted BCM50 looks sweet. I feel like a king in that room with all the space now. Now tomorrow the fun begins with the auto attendant. I have to do spanish, and english, and I have to spend hours on the CCR tree to get it how they need it. I have to give options to dial 1 for Dept A, and dial 2 for dept B etc. I suck at that part because most of the locations answer live, or use a basic auto attendant. I prefer the contact center over the AA.
