I am getting the following error

Our accounting deptartment is trying to renumber an item using (I/M , Setup , Inventory Management Utilities). When he hits proceed it gives him the following error.

Items can not be, renumbered or merged while P/O Receipt entry is in progress. Do you have any ideas as to the problem or where to look to fix this problem?

I have checked to see if any P/O Receipts in process’ and there is none there. ANy help would be appreciated.

Okay, here's what you need to do:

Under Library master, repair menu, choose File analysis and repair. For the filename, enter PO5xxx.SOA (replace xxx with the company code you are running this for).

Use the browse buttons to cycle through the records. This file should be empty (0 records). This is your p/o receipt of goods/invoice data entry header file. Having records in this file is what is prompting the system to generate the msg that is hanging you up.
