I am getting error messages frequntly on my system.I checked the /var/adm/messages file and found error messages.

bootpd(1345):IP address not found : 169:254.212.168
last message repeated 1 times

When I tried to ping 169.254.212.168, no response from this IP and this Range of IP is also not existed in My LAN.
Can Anybody tell me what things are wrong with my system?

thanks,
Ajay Lohani

Hi Ajay,

I am sure u r not using this machine as a diskless client.

If you are not then do the following:

Edit /etc/inetd.conf and insert the # in the following line:

bootps dgram udp wait root /usr/sbin/bootpd bootpd

And then reboot your machine.

The error messages should go then.

br,
