I am getting a strange message - anyone got any ideas on how to help

I am running Sendmail and some of my users are getting the following message From outlook express *There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'test', Server: 'mail.dtgnet.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Mailbox is readonly. Aborting.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92<br>
I have checked the permissions of the account and they are exactley the same as everyone else's being -rw-rw---- <br>
I then mv the mail to another directory, <br>
send a test message to recreate the box<br>
and it then works fine<br>

Any Ideas???<br>

May be there is a lock file there. I just don't know... find /var/spool -name &quot;*.lck&quot; -print<br>

What are the permissions of the directory where the mailbox was originally before you moved it?

As ozzynator suggested, compare the permissions of those two directories.
That will help
