Hi,

I am doing my CCSP certification and have already cleared 3 papers - SECUR, PIX and VPN. I am giving my IDS paper next month.

What I am doubtful is do CCSP certification carry long term value. I am a network support engineer and looking for good network securiy job but unsuccessful.

Congrat!!

Generally in popularity-wise, CCNP carries greater value than CCSP. There are selective few opportunities where the company requires such certificates. Many security weary employers rather ask "do you have experience in firewall?" than "do you carry CCSP certification?". CCNP is no different, but the paper value is more unless you are hardcore security person with 10 years of experience.
IMO of course.

I think your need to look at the current security industry. Cisco PIX is a good firewall and augments Check Point for Defense in Depth, however, Cisco VPN is poor compared to SecurClient which is far cheaper and is bundled with Check Point Firewall-1. Cisco IDS is still quite young and does not have the indtry backing on ISS RealSecure. SAFE focus on using these products, I feel that you are sound with your PIX and SECUR exams, VPN is a plus also. I would consider Check Point now if I were you.

One other thing Cisco VPN once out performed CP, as it was a hardware solution, but now implementing CP on Nokia or using hardware acceleration cards marks up at just as good if not better at lower costs if using the cards on say HP kit.
