I have a bcm 50 on existing network. I2004 works fine on internal lan using partial dhcp but when brought to remote site phone is connected in line with computer from lan connection to phone from phone to computer. Copmputer connects using vpn but phone never loads up.What am i missing?

no there are two network ports on i 2004. I ran the feed cable into the phone then the feed out of the phone to the computer. what is ics??? I have an existing cisco vpn connection.

do i need two ip address in the BCM 1 for public and on for private???

You are using the inbuild switch on the IP phone but this will not route accross the VPN that the PC has setup. It is only a small switch that prevents the need for two cat 5 ports.

You have 3 options

LAN to LAN VPN

2 NICS in the PC,ICS and set the VPN tunnel up and the IP phone uses the PC as its gateway.

I2050 install a softphone on the PC.

thank you mrmarshall i really appretiate your time. i understand lan to lan this will require the addition of equiptment. The2050 is also an option i will consider but the third option sounds like the way to go for now. if the remote sit grows i would consider the vpn to vpn just one phone now. so with the two nics on the pc i wont be using the DHCP correct? I will connect with a static ip and set the gateway to the pc address with the s1 s2 to the bcm?
