Can anyone give me some advice on usibg Hyperterminal w/ the SMDR port. Need settings, and all that good stuff.

Thanks Faffy

Set your com port to N,8,1,1200. Should be able to capture the SMDR stream to a .txt filename, edit or whatever from there.

Has anyone ever brought this stream straight into MS Access? TipHelp@charter.net

I import the SMDR into dBaseIII. Requires some massaging of the data due to field lengths. Have to do several steps, first with the ascii text to eliminate header data, blank lines, and occasional blurp; then run a DOS convert program to align columns, convert hours/mins/secs to fixed field length, finally import the ascii into dBase records, and even that takes a couple of passes in order to truncate fields properly. I gave up trying to import the text into Paradox directly, but once into dBase you can import to anything out there. Yep, after decades I'm still a dBaseIII fan.
