Hyperterminal Hangs from client session

When in a 1.8 session and trying to use Hyperterminal, the application freezes after establishing a connection or when trying to cancel out of the "New Connection" dialog box. This problem does not occur when you attempt it from the console, only from a client session. It is not a permissions issue as it is happening for users and Domain Admins alike.

Any help would be appreciated.
