HyperTerminal Cisco 2900XL Problem

I am having difficulty trying to access the switch via the console. My settings are as follows 9600 baud, 8 Data bits, 1 stop bit, VT100 Term Emulation & Parity None. I am using a cross-over cable to a RJ-45 to DB 9 female adapter to the PC.

I hit enter a few times & it slows the pc but there is no response from the switch.

Does Anybody have any suggestions ??

You should be using a rollover cable. Check out this link:
