Hyperlinks open, but then the document closes immediately? Help pls!

I placed a hyperlink to c:\files\file.pdf and when I click on it, adobe runs and it begins to open the file but then it flashes closed immediately. The file opens fine from windows explorer, and the link is definitely correct.

Any suggestions??
