It all started with SP2. After installation, I have noticed that the hyperlinks on received email don't work.
The address is in the status bar, but no action when clicked. Also, and possible related, I am constantly getting notice "To help your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer....." I've also noticed that some graphic links on websites don't work. I have already disabled the MS Security Center, or at least that's what the sign says. Somehow, I think it is still working.
This is really frustrating, and now my wife is threatening to throw the whole thing into the dumpster! So how do I fix this?? Turning security completely off would be a good test, but I can't figure out how to do that!! GRRRRRR!!!!

You might have a couple of things going on. First, try this - open a command prompt and (assuming that Windows is installed on drive C) type the following: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe /rereg

Test the results & reply back. If you still have problems, let us know what e-mail client you're using (OE?) and if you've installed any add-ons.

using that command, I get a response that it is not recognized as an internal or external command...
Also, I am using OE6, with no add-ons.

Well isn't that an annoyance...I should have tested it first. Try this instead:

C:\Progra~1\Intern~1\iexplore.exe /rereg

I typed it in, leaving a space between iexplore.exe and the /rereg. When I hit enter, it said "operable program or batch file."
Now what?

I have also just noticed that when I try MS Online Support, using the shortcut on IE, I am told the page can not be displayed. The same is true for "Send Feedback".
This is a mess!!
I have also realized that I have AIM, Windows Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Login as active Add-ons.
Sorry for the mistake earlier.

Follow the links in this thread; specifically the ones about re-registering the required dll's.

PROBLEM FOUND, NOW HOW TO FIX!!!
Regarding non-working links from Outlook express to Internet Explorer, I have discovered that unless the linked site is listed as one of the "safe" sites, the link will not work. I am using MS firewall, with default settings. Now, how to fix this??
Anyone have any wonderful ideas???
