Hyperlinks do not open in Outlook2002

I have a user who try's to open hyperlink from received e-mail. When clicking on the hyperlink, the file dialog box opens looking for an exe file and an IE window opens and does nothing.

Since I have started searching for answers I have found one that has helped but with a strange side effect. In the file dialog window I located the IExplorer.exe and selected it.
This corrected the issue of the dialog box opening, but now I have two IE windows opening. One of them loads the hyperlink and the other loads nothing.

I have tried to "Reset Web Settings" to no avail.

Any thoughts or suggestions on how to rid the second IE would be appreciated.

I am using 2003 and when I click on the hyperlink NOTHING happens at all! What is going on here?

Solved!

I clicked on "Tools | Programs | Reset Web Options" and then restarted the computer. It then worked perefectly. I discovered the solution on the Microsoft web site where it said that a specific registry entry was not set up.
