Hi guys,
I have a question about Excel 2000. In my Office 97 version, when I create a hyperlink i have the option "Use relative path for hyperlink". When I deselect this, my hyperlinks do not change, even when I change location of the workbook.

In the Office 2000, I cannot seem to find this option. When I create my hyperlinks, save into another area, my hyperlinks change paths.

Please help me!!

Thanks in advance,

This is a direct copy of a portion of MS article Q211571:

If you failed to save the workbook before you created the hyperlink, save the workbook, and then reinsert the hyperlink.

Microsoft recommends that you save the workbook before you create a hyperlink. In order for Microsoft Excel to create a relative path, a base address must be computed; saving the workbook creates this base address.

Thanks for your attention to this. I am going to check out that Microsoft article. However, I am working with a saved workbook, it's just when I use Save As, and place it into a different directory that the hyperlink becomes unusable.

Does that make sense? We really need to do this step also, as we are saving the workbook into a protected drive.

Thanks for any more input anyone might have.

The two reasons I have not answered back are:

I was hoping that someone more knowledgeable than me would answer your question... and...

Tek_tips is doing a number on my login where I have to Login every couple of minutes. That takes up a lot of time.

Now, when you save to a different folder, obviously the base address is no longer valid. (I have myself never tried this, but) you might want to put the base address of the new folder in the file properties. To do that go to File, Properties, Summary tab and at the bottom input the base address for Hyperlink base.

Hope that helps.
