Dear All
I have an intranet site and there are links to MS Word templates (.dot) files. However, when someone clicks on the link the document opens in the frame (and hence no print/save icons/menus). I want the link to fire up Word and then open the template.. is this possible? Does anyone know how to do this?
Regards

You could try :

- Changing the MIME type that the server delivers .DOC files as to some generic binary type... That way, the user should get asked if they want to "Open" or "Save" it.. and if they click open, it should open in Word.

- Using ActiveX to launch Word and open the document in it.

The first option is preferable, I'd say, as it is far more cross-browser compliant.

Hope this helps,
Dan
