I thought I saw an easy way to add titles to hyperlinks in this forum but I can't find it now.
Currently I add title="descriptive text" just after the href entry and before the > This requires searching through the html code for the href.
Is there an easier way (or more automated way) to do this in FP2000?

Maybe Im missing something, but if you right click in the link and go tothe properties.. u can't rename the link there?

Right click on the link, choose hyperlink properties, click on Screen Tip and enter info there.

Hi zestril5,

If you place your cursor in your link before switching to HTML view, this is quicker.

Just add a space after "a" then title="Whatever you want here" and then a space before "href". You can use enter and spacing to get the look you want.

Or the fancy way...

I think this is likey what you wanted.

Hope I have been of some help,
Micheal

Thanks all for the responses
Kjonnnn I'm not looking to rename the link.

AMysticWeb Thanks, that is faster except for the first part. If I place my cursor in the link before switching to HTML view It still goes to the same place in HTML view. No matter where I place the cursor, when I switch the cursor in HTML is always at the same place leavin me to search through the code.

rollout369 I right click on the link, choose hyperlink properties But I don't see anything about Screen Tip. I have FP2000. Is this in a different version or did I not install something?

Sorry, for FP 2000 and earlier my tip won't work. You'll have to enter it manually as part of the hyperlink tag, like this:

<a href=&quot; title=&quot;Click here to visit CNN's web site&quot;>CNN</a>

What version of FP do you have? In the 2002 and up (couldn't speak for earlier), when you insert a hyperlink, it opens to a dialog box. At the top of the dialog box is a place for you to type the text for the title of the link.

You can also go to folder view, copy a page you want to link to and paste it onto the page where you are putting the link. Whatever you have titled the page is what the link will be called.

Thanks for the information. Apparently when I originally saw the information it was associated with FP2002. I'm using 2000 and what you describe doesn't happen with 2000.
I have 2002 software somewhere here in the office. I guess I'll look for it and get it installed.
Thanks again

Im really confused here.

What's a title?

If you right click on the link, you can name the link, and the actual URL the link goes too.

What's a title?

<a href=&quot;History.htm&quot;>Our History</a>

Hi Kjonnnn,

Like alt text over an image (tool tip) only he wants it over a text hyperlink.

To use your example...

<a title=&quot;Check out our history page&quot; href=&quot;History.htm&quot;>Our History</a>

Hope I have been of some help,
Micheal
