With Lotus, when creating messages that include hyperlinks, the hyperlinks do not work. In the user preferences, there is a setting that states to "Make Internet URL's( into hotspots"--I have checked this. I've tested this by pasting my URL into a message and sending it to an outside email address.......and the hyperlink appears as text only. I know that I can create a hotspot and link it to a URL--which works, but I don't understand why the option of "Make Internet URL's( hotspots" does not seem to work.

I have a feeling, although I may be incorrect here, that this only works from within Notes. ie sending a Notes message to another Notes client if the "Make Internet URLs ( into Hotspots." option is selected in the cleint preferences.

I am including the " - and it doesn't hyperlink, but I'm assuming it should??. I'll try sending a test message to another Notes user and see what happens. I had tested a Notes message that was opened in Outlook.

You have restarted your client right? I happen to remember from experience that this is one of those preferences that doesn't take effect straight away.
Apologies if I'm stating the obvious.

Regards,
Tony.

Tony,
I have restarted the client. Also, when sending a message from Notes to Notes - yes, the hyperlink works. Sending from Notes to Outlook - then the hyperlink does not work. My question is -- should it be?? Or if I am sending an e-mail from Lotus, that will not be opened by another Notes user - should I stick with the "create hotspot" and link the URL to it?

Are you sure it's not a setting in your Outlook? I can send from Notes and recieve in an Outlook mailbox and it works fine.

Leslie,
Thanks for your reply. I'll check my settings in Outlook - I'm glad to hear it does work.
