Hyperlink loss when saving Excel file 1

Hi

A cell within an Excel spreadsheet contains text. This text is then hyperlinked to a Microsoft Word document in a folder. This works fine when you click on the link, it opens the document.

However, when you save the Excel file, the hyperlink is lost.

Before saving it looks something like this:

x:\servername\documents\excel\files\ourfile.xls

After saving the Excel file it changes to:

file/.../.../.../documents\excel\files\ourfile.xls

Does anyone know the reason why / Sollution?

I've had similar behavior with Excel 2002. There, and with a spreadsheet open, I solved by going to Tools, Options, General tab, Web Obtions button, Files tab,and unckech the "Update links on save". Now try adding your hyperlink, save and navigate. Worked for me!
