Hi were about to purchase a new server and install 2008 r2 running Hyper – V

The server is a
Dell Poweredge R710
Dual Xeon X5660
16GB
5 x 300 SAS 6Gpbs HDD
Windows 2008 r2 Enterprise

The server to start with is going to be used for Microsoft CRM.

We are going to install SQL 2008 on a VM Hyper V and mirror 2 x 300 as a pass through disk as recommended by Microsoft.

The other 3 disks will be Raid 5 for the host machine and other VM’s

While SQL is on a separate VM, can I install Microsoft CRM Server on the Host Machine, or do i need to install it on a separate VM? Should anything be installed on the host?

This is our first setups with any virtualisation,

Hope this makes sense

Nothing should be installed on the host/parent partition. Everything should be installed on VMs/guests on the host.
