I have installed an Intel P4 3.06GHz and have run WCPUID and other utilities that indicate that the processor is running at 3.06GHz. I also ran the Intel Processor Identification utility and it reports correct CPU speed. However, the Intel Hyper Threading Technology Test reports that HT is not enabled and I should check my BIOS settings. I also ran SISoftware Sandra 2005 and it reports as HT not enabled?

When the ABIT VT7 boards boots, it stated that HT has been detected and enabled? The mobo has the latest BIOS updates applied. Is this a real problem or some level of incompatibility with the Intel utilities? My OS: WinXp Pro; Chipset: VIA PT880 & VT8237.

My Device Manager in the Computer Tab shows
"Advance Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI)PC"

Does the HAL have to change for HT to work? Do I have to reisntall WinXP?

Intersting!!! I checked Task Manager and it only shows one CPU Usage History graph. I also checked Device Manager - Processors and it shows two CPU's. I pulled the prior CPU out and isntalled this new one. Looks like XP is confused. Sounds like a reinstall could fix my problems.

Thanks for the info.
