Hi all,
We're going to replace our backup Server (E450) by an V880R.
against our philosophy (Never change the name of a physical Server)
we ARE thinking about giving the new server the name of the old Server.
On the other hand we don't actually know what is easier/better:
-moving to a fully new server with a new name
(-and get rid of eventually historical conf. items)
-just migrate the actuall config & hostname towards the new hardware.
(-and may be getting less license problems)
Anyway, we're not planning to have them running in parallel during the changes,
only one could be up'n running.
Any suggestions?

Thx & Regards

I would re-install and re-config everything on the new server keeping the old name. In this way you can just move the indexes and Media database from the old server. That should give you a rather clean installation without any major hazzle.

The easiest would be to keep the name the same. Incase you decide to change the name, just remember to contact your vendor to change your authentication codes, which is made up of the host id and the enabler code.

The next one you shold remember is that you have to change every clients /nsr/res/servers file to have the apropriate server listed.
