When attempting to install my snd card driver I get the following msg: "Problem installing this hardware. The name is already in use as either a service name or a service display name". Can some explain what this means.

Snd card is on MBoard using SIS 735 chipset. Trying to install SIS7012 sound driver.

Apparently the OS already sees a service there for the one you are tyring to install. If you open up regedit and go to :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

so you see anything that may have something to do with the card? James Collins

I did look in the registry and found an entry for SIS7018, but no SIS7012. I backedup the registry, then deleted SIS7018. Then installed SIS7012 successfully. Sound now work great. Thanks for the help.
