in one of our departments we have setup extension 1 to roll over to extension 2, extension 2 to roll over to extension 3, extension 3 to roll over to extension 4, then extension 4 to roll over to extension 1.

this is done using HUNT.

my question is, if someone calls extension 1 and gets no answer it rolls to ext 2, but if ext 2 doesnt answer does it then roll to 3 and so on endlessly?

here is the info on the first extension:

Your Dn is 2288 hunt to 2288 so you hunting to yourself. Change hunt to the 2nd phone DN.

I don't see no answer doing anything with fnd in cls as well as htd & no ftr fdn.....

sorry that was a typo, 2288 has HUNT set to 2283.

so if 2283 was set to hunt 2284, would a call to 2288 that rolled to 2283 but wasnt picked up at 2283 then roll over to 2284 and so on?

You can only forward no answer once unless you give the second phone SFA in CLS. That will allow it to forward no answer one more time. After that it just rings.

the hunt will work but in order for the fna to work the previous phone in the chain will need to manually forward to the next number. a number of place here use this poor mans acd system. lol. its like going msb (make set busy) when you manually fwd the calls. possible if all the phones in the chain have sfa then it may fwd. BUT remember that fna is pre set to 4 rings, in order for the 4th fn to get the call the caller would have heard over 12 rings. some people hang up by then. the manual fwd'g will solve the excessive ringing. but then the user will be responsible to do the fwd'g b4 they leave their desk.

so if you had SFD, would someone call extension 1, then when no one picks up it rolls over to extension 2, and then keeps ringing at extension 2 until someone answers or the person hangs up?

I agree with what everyone has said up to this point, but let me summarize all the factors.

1)Ring-no-ans must have the following:
a) CLS=FNA; CLS- SFA (to allow ph. A -> B-> C) ..otherwise will only forward one time A-> B.
a1) You say that you have phones A, B, C, D.
..FNA (RNA) will never get to D. Max of two hops for FNA. Where as, HUNT (busy) will 'hop/roll' thru 16 + phones. Nortel recommends max of 16.

2) FNA must have FTR FDN xxxx

2a) Suggestion of CFW (hard forward) ph A to B, etc that was made by others will work to get call to ph. D if first phones are not manned. ..but Not user friendly!

3) You can 'HUNT' phones A thru D to each other, but CLS=HTA.
...do NOT recommend Hunting D to A phone. Creates a loop and will make customer/client think that there is problem if all four are busy. You could send D to common voice mail box (departmental shared) ...Meridian mail would have primary MB # of phone A, then have others listed as 'extensions' in MB programming.

Another way to do it, is to use MCR programming, but that is a whole nother story.

Correction:

I forgot, these are analog phones ...you can not use MCR on anything but digital phones. So forget that.

First off, extension 2288 needs to hunt to an extension other that 2288. Secondly, HTD and FND need to be HTA and FNA. Thirdly, there is no FNA set up. FTR FDN XXXX. If none of the phones are forwarded and all have SFD in CLS and a call comes into extension 1 and no one answers it, it will forward no answer to extension 2. Extension 2 will ring forever. If you give extension 2 SFA in CLS and a call comes into extension 1 it will forward no answer to extension 2 and then forward no answer to extensione 3. It will then ring on extension 3 forever. That is as far as you can go with your setup.
