I've setup a number of huntgroups on a clients system, but they don't work hpow I'd expect them too. The system is the lastest build of MCD.

Some are circular and some are terminal, but if I ring the number it picks out the first number and doesn't move onto the next one in the list. I'd expect them to move onto the next DN in the group much like cascade does in a ring group.

If the first DN is busy it does pick the first available DN to start ringing. I've either got the wrong idea about hunt groups or because I've set no COS for them I'm missing some kind of cascade timer.

Hi Rob

As far as I know:-

terminal - always starts at the first available member and continues to ring on this member until the call is answered.

circular - call 1 rings the first member, call 2 rings the 2nd member and so on, BUT if the call is unanswered it doesnt "cascade" through the group, it continues to ring the original member.

Mitels notes
"Circular" for circular hunting in which the stations that form the group are searched in a circular manner beginning with the station following the last used station as listed in the group.

"Terminal" for terminal hunting in which the stations that form the group are searched starting at the first station and ending with the last station in the group.

So are you saying that the call will only ring at one station and won't timeout and move to another if it goes unanswered, in both cases. I understand the concept of terminal and circular groups, but it sounds that the 'hunt' rule is applied during the recieving the call and sends it to one member based on the hunt type. Once delivered it camps on that DN indefinatly. If I want the call to move then I need to setup a cascade ring group. That would be a shame.

From my experience with regards to hunt groups that is correct.

Hunt groups hunt until an idle station is found.

Before Ring groups were available, we had to forward the stations back to the group on no answer and have circular hunting to make the call go to the next station.

Ring groups is what you need . They can be ring all or cascade. Hunt Groups aren;t designed to hop
