I am in the process of upgrading a customer from a Norstar MICS to an IPO V 6.1. They currently use HG appearances on the phones so they can Fwd to Voicemail for incoming DID calls but the hunt group calls will still ring in. I am trying to duplicate this on the IPO but the users have DND and when the users in the Hunt group set their phone to DND the hunt group calls ring busy. I tried a DND exception adding the hunt group ext but that did not work. Calls still ring busy. Help????

Turn on call waiting for the group.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

The group is sent to collective call waiting. I was thinking that I might build phantom users, a phantom HG, and overflow that HG to the actual HG with a 1-2 second overflow time out and then add the phantom HG to the DND exceptions? Will this work?

DND exceptions list is for the source of the call (person making the call), the group is the destination of the call (even though it's overflowing) so adding it into the exceptions list will not work :)

Ok So Im lost at this point. How about a Phantom user that is forwarded to the HG and add the phantom user to the exceptions? If not I am open for suggestions.

The way around this is to use forwarding on the user not DND, give them a button that sets forward unconditional on instead of DND, set their forward unconditional to be "To Voicemail" by ticking the box, that will send all DID calls to VM but not huntgroup calls as they will still ring :)

Note on the above:

If they are using 14xx,16xx or 96xx they will need to set the forward to VM using the menu, if using other types (54/5610 etc) the "To Voicemail" setting will be lost when they de-activate it, to get around this you may need to forward to a shortcode that send the call to the users VM :)

ok Guys. I have done what is stated and the HG calls are still not rining on that set. Just the other phones. Its V6.1.504 with 1616 phones. The set is a member of the HG and the HG has a DID assigned to it. I have forwarded the set to VM through the phone and even tried external only. Neither is working.

I also built a phantom user and changed the incoming call route to point to the phantom user, Fwd Unconditional the phantom user to the HG Ext and added that phantom Ext as a DND exception to the set. Still no luck!!!

You are correct, I was confusing myself with the setting, you may need to make other arrangements, I was doing a workaround with the feature "Priority call" it worked internally and got past DND but targetting it externally causes a system reboot ....oh dear :)

I know that when you forward through the phone to an ext it gives another options for All calls, Non Group Calls, Ext only, Ext and Group? Does the VM have an ext or is there a way to do this work around?

Make another hunt group, add just the user to that hunt group, point the user's DID to that new hunt group. Turn on voicemail for that hunt group. Add a set hunt group oos button on the phone for the new hunt group. When they press the hunt group oos button, it will send calls to that hunt group (which would be coming in from the DID) straight to voicemail, but calls to the other hunt group will still ring in.

If you have voicemail pro, use a leave action for the new hunt group to leave messages in the users ext mail box, or a leave action for the users ext voicemail to leave messages in the new hunt group mailbox.

just a note to my above suggestion, this is send calls directed to the users DID to voicemail. If an internal user dials the persons actual ext number, the call will still ring through. The only way around this is to tell people to get used to dialing the new hunt group number for the person, NOT their ext number.

do you have a group button programmed on the users handset?
if so it should light up when the group is ringing.
