I have a client with a KX-TA624 with the 8x3 expansion card and one doorphone.
The client is complaining of a hum ("almost static") on all the lines on all 3 lines the 10 extensions.
He states that they have had Pac Bell out to the location and they state that the problem is in the residence.
The system has been in service for 2 months and the "hum" is new.

I am due out to give a service call for this problem on Thursday.

Has anyone run across this problem before and can you recommend a solution?
The system is plugged into a UPS so I assume the problem is power related.

TIA!

go there and listen on the lines b4 pointing the finger at the ksu!

Marker Humming is usually a condition caused by a bad ground and its usually in a cross box b4 it gets to the cust prem. but you say its on all lines and phones so I agree with you the UPS is suspect especially if its a ONEAC I have seen that. Also check for a bad power supply in your cabinet I hope this helps and you dont find it to be merely suggestion that has no impact on the trouble you are having like going on site and pointing fingers I am yet to have that actually fix anything and find it to be a waste of time to read or do.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I misspoke myself - I really meant that I thought the problem would not be power related because I had a UPS (Belkin 550VA by the way) connected.

I was just wondering if anyone had prevoius experience with a problem like this where the problem turned out to be actual equipment failure. My experience is that static and hums are almost always a problem with the phone company.

The client says that the phone company came out and tested all the lines, which I doubt - They usually do some remote testing while you are on the phone and say "The problem is in your residence. Can we send a technician ($$) out to fix it?".

I'll be looking at the problem on Tuesday . . . we'll see . . .
Thanks again.
