I backup a bunch of SQL Server 2000 databases on a weekly-full, nightly-differential schedule. I also back up transaction logs every 3 hours. Everything is fine except for the first transaction log backup after each nightly differential backup....it is sometimes enormous
My full backup is almost 15 GB, Differentials around 2 GB, and normal transaction logs from 10 to a few hundred MB.
Then some nites the first transaction log backup after my differential is over 15 GB! I have no idea why they are so huge all of a sudden, then back down to normal.
