Don't know what I am doing wrong, but eventhough I did not embed any links, the file size of my document is over 95 mb!!
Anyone got an idea what I did wrong?

Some people have file sizes in the 100s of MB. It depends on the document and the type of previews saved in it (even if you thought that you did not embed anything).

Check the Info palette on your images - have any of them been downsized in ID to give a resolution far above 300dpi? Or select the image with the white pointer and see if the % size is far greater than 100%. This will blow out the size of the ID file, even if you have linked not embedded the image, as ID seems to store the preview file at the same size it actually is in the layout. There was a recent thread about the same topic in the Adobe User forum - I will see if I can find it.

OK I'm back and I didn't quite remember the solution correctly. It seems you need to check that the resolution of the files is not still 72 dpi if you placed digital images directly in ID without first resizing in Photoshop (most files from a digital camera are 72 dpi but may have huge dimensions). If the image has been resized in ID to 300 dpi, the preview will still be sized at the enormous dimensions of the original 72 dpi image.

Have a read of the thread linked to below (and if the link doesn't work, then do a search for a thread titled "35 page document - 300-400MB!!" originally posted October 10 in the Adobe Users Windows InDesign forum.
