hub to switch...lose communication

Upgrading a network from a 3com HUB to a switch. When i connected all PCs, one was unable to communicate regardless of port used (even ports where other PCs were communicating). There was no light at the NIC.

When the HUB was placed back on the network the computer was again able to talk to the others.

The one PC in question has a new 3COM 10/100 NIC

What could cause this? Could bad cabling be the problem ?

Most likely it would be the rj45 connector, i've had problems with 3com switching from hubs to switches so, try changing the connector.
