I know a hub splits up bandwidth... but here is a question. We have a 24 port Hub... does it split it 24 ways... or only as many ways as ports used? I am trying to get selling points on moving to a switch... :)

It does not "split" it, it shares it.

So if one user is sending a packet, the other uses just have to wait. On a switch traffic from port A to port B is a "dedicated" channel and there is no sharing or splitting needed. The other ports are unaffected.

Go for the switch.
