Hub Not Working

We have a GVC 8 port hub that shows a 'yellow' light in the BNC even though we are not using cable but a regular patch cable terminated in RJ 45s. No link is established.

Before we throw it away does anyone have any ideas how to possibly troubleshoot this an make it work??

We would appreciate any help ...
