Don't really know which forum to post this one but here goes. Can anyone tell me why doesn't work but does? By the way I have an .htaccess file redirecting to our .co.uk mirror site as the .com host (Mister.net) has had so many outages over the last month that it has become unusable. We are going to host with someone else soon if this keeps up. Obviously my .htaccess is no good if the .com site is down.

Sounds like there is no DNS pointer set up for ukchesschallenge.com so it doesnt go anywhere or it could be pointing at another host. Check the DNS settings for the domain if you have access to them.

I have changed the ns1 and ns2 servers to the address my host used to use. Now I can get to my site via Netscape but not MISE! I'll try clearing temp files and give it another try. Thanks for your help

Ok I noticed a couple of problems both http:\\ukchesschallenge.com and http:\\are not responding for me. According to their Authoritive Nameservers
(ns1.freeprofessionalhosting.com. [209.210.237.84] [TTL=172800]
ns2.freeprofessionalhosting.com. [209.210.237.87] [TTL=172800])
are not responding.

While http:\\ukchesschallenge.co.uk works fine and it's Nameserver responds accordingly.
ns2.zimbabweonline.net.

I would say that your problem comes from having your internal dns set up to resolve http:\\ but not http:\\ukchesschallenge.com.

Regardless, your external dns is not resolving properly.

Another problem may be that you do not have a virtual server defined for ukchesschallenge.com. In apache, you have to define both because part of the URL query is the Host: tag. The Host: tag is taken literally, so is not the same web site as ukchesschallenge.com unless you specifically tell the server that it is. This allows you to host multiple web sites with a single server. If this is a hosted site, you probably need to notify them that you need both versions to display the same site.

But it is just as likely a DNS problem. Especially if it is the only site on your server.
