Hello Everyone,

This one is really driving my crazy. This box is set up like all the others but a message keeps popping up saying "HTTP Proxy requires authentication" The Firewall and correct port(8080) are already listed in the box and waits for a user name and password. No matter what you do the message pops up every few minutes. It even pops up when we are not serfing the net. This is a newly installed box with a standard configuration. I've searched many articles but cannot find an answer. Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks in advance for any help you can lend.

In isa server manager, right click on the server name. make sure that "ask unauthenticated users for identification" is not checked on both "incomming web requests" and "outgoing web requests"

Hidalgo,

Thanks for the reply. Checked that and found that those boxes are not checked. I think I will try taking the system off the network, renaming it and rejoining it to the network. Should work?

Found the answer.

The Logitech software automatically installed an instant messageing program. Though the program was not activated nor an account established it aparently kept trying to detect an internet connection, thus eliciting a response from the proxy server. Once removed the problem went away.

Thanks to all who ventured to answer this question. Just wanted to get back with you on that.

TechZorro - what was the name of Logitech Messenger program that you removed?

I have the same issue.

Thanks.

Sorry can't remember,

But it is redily identifieable if you go to the Logitech start menu folder. Since then I've noticed that Microsofts Instant Messanger will do somthing simular. The instant messengers are often blocked at firewalls.
This situeation threw me because it was a new box and I missed the instant messenger installation by Logitech (A good company with a good product by the way) Normally I would have used the MSconfig program to selectively load startup programs until I found wich one was the culprit.
