HTTP link with embedded username\password ?

I know you can create an ftp link that has the username and password embedded in it:

ftp://usernameassword@URL


but is there a similar way to do the same thing in an HTTP link ?

We are setting up a website that we wish to be "semi-anonymous" (for lack of a better word)

If you are setting up a website i assume you are using http and not ftp??? Can you run ASP code?
