I've been getting a growing list of sites that, when accessed, report a HTTP Host Header error and tells me I have a very old browser version. I've done some research and I understand what the error means and what type of sites will report this, but what I don't understand is that I only get this when I go through our firewalls, but if I use the same machine to dial up to the Internet, it works fine.
I've tried different machines, IE 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, Netscape 6, Opera, with or without proxy, and the only time it works out of all of these when behind the firewall is IE 5.0 - no proxy. For testing purposes, I allowed all traffic through the firewalls and this made no difference.
We have two seperate paths to the Internet via two different firewalls - a PIX-515UR and a Nokia IP650 running Checkpoint Firewall-1 v4.1. Both paths taken have the same result.
I don't understand why the firewalls are causing this problem. Has anyone else come across this, and most importantly, found an answer?
