Hello,

I have been asked to set up a Mercator integration soluting using HTTP to send and receive files, I am familiar with Mercator but have never used the HTTP adapter before and I'm not familiar with this as a method for transmitting files. Any tips on what I need to find out from our client, where to start etc?

Please help.
Thanks
Angie.

Will you be using the Mercator Event Agent in conjunction with your map?

What versions will you be using?

John

Yes, I realised that we would need to purchase an extra module called the Event Agent, so we decided not to go down the Mercator route.

Thanks anyway for your response.

Angie.

Though of course I like very much Mercator, and would highly recommend it, it did make me smile that once you realised you were going to have to use the event server, you decided not to go down that route!!!

I am sure many customers would symapathise with that thought,it has indeed been the cause of many sleepless nights for consulatants, support and customers alike......

but really overall is an excellent tool.

Actully we're using it quite successfully. Once we understood a few things about it, things have gone smoothly. As a matter of fact we performed some internal load testing with some monitoring software installed and noted that the slowest responding systems were between the time the maps handed off the data to a DB system and when it was handed back.

That said, it seems many companies have chosen to use a Java front end. When our national organization performed their load testing, against 56 other locations, our performance was right near the top for all 6 testing sessions. We were never number one but were consistantly in the top 10. Maybe we'd have performed better if our mercator web server wasn't running on a 400mhz, 1 cpu system.

Of course, we did get a couple of patches and we do have a good grip on the product.
