I have a new client that wants me to make some small modifications to an already existing web site. I checked out the source and it all looks like plain HTML. For some reason the previous webmaster used .asp file extensions on all the inside pages. The code looks like regular HTML to me and I don't see any real ASP references or calls. Why would he/she do this and should I be worried about making any small changes. I have been farming out all my database integration work to a friend and don't want to get in over my head.

also without code really can't say, but I can tell you it really does not matter if the ext is .asp or .htm if there are no <% %> anywhere in the code. The html is read by the browser the same both ways [bomb]
I may not get it the 1st or 2nd time,
but how sweet that 15th time can be.

yeah but it takes more time for the server to process an asp page then a normal HTML page. You see the server looks at the extension to know wether or not to send it to the ASP processor. Although not necessary unless you have optimisation needs you should consider changing them all to .html if you are not planning to use the ASP features at all. Gary Haran
