Hello,

I am wondering what has to be done to create html-formatted emails.

I am using sendmail to send the messages, via perl, and I cannot seem to get it to work. The messages come out as plaintext.

Any Suggestions?

answer: don't ...

HTML emails are the scum of the earth, email was never meant to have html formatted text in it ... it introduces security holes, especially with embedded javascript/image links that automatically get activated when the html is opened.

we have a mail-scanner that now strips all html content out of email messages because of these reasons.

jad-

I am not planning to have embedded javascript and images. Only formatted text. Thanks for your input tho...

well the MailScanner perl script looks for trash and a lot of other stuff ...

but basically it uses perl to hold the html object, then tells the perl option to give it the text version not the html version.

MailScanner does a whole load more stuff than that, but it is a feature i like :)

only problem is one of our guys writes documentation for us in html, and can't send it to us if it is recognised as html :) it strips it plain :)

also i'm on the 'html2ps' news group and anyone sending examples of html code in the emails gets them trimmed :)
