Hello

I have the following script which which I am trying to make sense of (I am completely new to ASP):

<?php

//create short variable names
$name=$_POST['name'];
$email=$_POST['email'];
$subject=$_POST['subject'];
$message=$_POST['message'];
$name=trim($name);
$email=trim($email);
$subject=StripSlashes($subject);
$message=StripSlashes($message);

/*#########
modify the next line with your own email address
###########*/

$toaddress='myEmail@yahoo.co.uk';

if (preg_match ("/^[-_.[:alnum:]]+@((([[:alnum:]]|[[:alnum:]][[:alnum:]-]*[[:alnum:]])\.)

mail($toaddress,$subject,$message,"From: $name <$email>\r\nReply-To: $email\r\nReturn-Path: $email\r\n");
//clear the variables
$name=';
$email=';
$subject=';
$message=';
echo "response=passed";
} else {
echo "response=invalid";
exit;
}

?>

I am not sure what all these [0-4] etc references are, but the script sends a message from an online form to my inbox.

I would like to be able to add to it, to do two things:

1) a copy of the message goes to the person who completed the online form (using, presumably, the email address he supplied);

2) to HTML format the message received so that it appears something like:

Fullname: Visitor's name
Email visitor@hisMail.com
Country UK/USA, etc
Message Merry Christmas!

Could anyone help me with this, please, or perhaps suggest a not-too difficult tutorial!

Very many thanks.

Steve

the [0-4] etc is a regex pattern used to validate an email address

to send html, you can either follow the instructions in the FAQ in this forum or use phpmailer().

be careful of item1, if you make this change then there is a strong chance that your form will be used as an open relay for spammers.
