Lately I've been getting colourful emails with all sorts of extras and I've been searching the headers to try to figure out what program people are using to create these. I figured out a while ago how to put graphics and links and mailtos in Eudora but that's about all I can get it to do. Then I saw someone in this forum talking about Outlook stationery. While I normally avoid using Outlook, I thought I'd give it a go. I created a new stationery from the Wizard in Outlook Express, then went into the Edit and Source Code and pasted a form from the source code in a Dreamweaver file. All looks fine in Preview, and in Edit. If I use the SaveAs Stationery it seems to create a blank. If I close the file, the form and fill-in fields are lost, but the original colours and logo from the wizard are retained. If I send the email from the Edit page, it all seems to work - the correct-looking page is in my sent items and the received email contains all the fields and the submit button etc appears to work (except that my settings are being blocked because I'm dialled into the wrong ISP at the moment). I'm remembering why I don't use Outlook Express!! So, briefly, how do I save stationery with additional code? Or is there a better program?

The best thing to do is save the file as a html file somewhere like your desktop from Dreamweaver. Once you have done that (you should have a html file that you can open in IE that looks like what you want) Go to Tools->Options->Mail Format(tab) And make sure you have send mails in HTML format ticked, and in that same window go to stationary picker. Create a new, and then use a file as a template, and browse to your HTML file on your desktop. When you select it, go back to the Mail format tab and select that file in the stationary picker as the 'stationary by default'. This should allow you to do what ever you want to....Ill send you a mail that I did in HTML and used as a signature...... Jay~

Thanks Jay. That wasn't quite the right steps for Outlook Express but you gave me enough clues to figure it out. My error was to attempt to add code to an existing template. That worked for sending the email straight away, but the file wouldn't save. However using the New Message Using->Select Stationery (to my html) works fine. I guess you're using Office Outlook and it's possibly easier.
Thanks again, Jill.

I have a question for you jay. I have a problem using stationary that uses flash animation. I can add stationary no problem, and when i select my stationery through signature picker in Outlook 2000 I can see my flash animation. But no luck when I actually send a message with that stationery. Any help would be appreciated!?!? s-)

probably coz the person recieving the email hasnt got the flash plug in, you might want to try and send the .fla or swf file that you created in the mail just to see if that works....Id say thats where the problem lies, what if you send it to your self, see what happens then. Jay~

Jay,

I did send it to myself, no luck. I am trying something right now with having the flash movie located on my web page and trying to load it that way. On the Embed tag I have the SRC of the movie, which is normally the name of the movie, point to my movie located on my web page. I read somewhere that it is a good idea to locate your movie where everybody can reach it. But that is not going very well. Do you know a good book or website that might explain how to send html with flash in Outlook 2000? I appreciate the help....

Im not sure of anywhere that tutors on HTML signatures and stationary etc, but I'll have a look, I am also interested in this too, if I come across anywhere, I will post it.....
Good Hunting!!!! Jay~

Jay,

I have workaround solution. I published my flash movie as a GIF. In Flash you can publish a "animated" GIF. The animation works but I cannot interact with flash, which is fine I only had one button on it. I sent the gif to myself and it came out great! I am testing sending it to others, I don't think there will be a problem. The one thing I did notice is that my email message is 116kb!! I published the gif with optimized settings to try to keep the quality.

Temp fix for now I guess.... ;-)

Must try that one and see how it comes out! Jay~
