I am in the process of converting a heap of Word documents to HTML and am redesigning them in the process. These word documents act as templates for forms that are populated with data through a mail-merge function from a VB application. The forms output are then sent off to customers.

Occasionally the application users need to tweak the final output - which was fine when the final output was a Word document as they could just use Word to make the change before printing. However, in HTML it is not that simple. I was planning that users would use IE to print the documents but IE will, of course, not allow editing.

Are there any good cheap editors that users could use to edit (and, if possible, print) the end product? Typically they would only be editing text - they should have no need to adjust the formatting and layout.

Thanks in advance.

I can't believe I'm about to suggest this *uuggghh*, but:

Word is capable of opening HTML files, and in turn edit them. It will most probably add a lot of junk to the files but it is the friendliest approach I can think off for users.

Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

Thanks, but believe me, I tried that (for sheer amusement value). It bears no resemblance to the original when opened in Word 2000. I didn't even attempt to print it. Are more recent versions of Word more HTML friendly perhaps?

I'm not sure, maybe Word 2003 can do a better job at it. Or at least Word XP.

As for a Friendly WYSIWYG editor for users maybe look into one of these, don't know how good they'll be as i've never really tried them, but since they are free, you can test them and see if you like their performance.

Both of these have potential as both offer the option to edit text WYSWIG and 'in situ'. Many thanks. After a 2 minute trial of each, I have a slight preference for webpage over amaya as it appears to render the page more consistently with IE.

Might be on to something here. Thanks again.

Glad i could help.
