HTML code won't work

When I put HTML code in an E-mail instead of getting the result I get the code. When I point my browser to the file it runs proper. When I E-mail I get the <HTML> <image src=&quot; </HTML> (the code and NOT the image...) I'm using the version of Sendmail that came with SCO OPEN 5. Can you offer any help as to what is wrong and how to fix?
