hi, i designed some HTML for image catalogueing in a program called 1st Page HTMLEDIT. i tested it in IE. it looked identical in both, and it all worked fine.

today, a netscape user called and told me that it doesn't really work in netscape. he's right; not only does it look radically different but it is not functional. i used relative linking, since the HTML was distributed on a CD that people would be installing all over the place, and sometimes just using off the CD. this is essential to the whole thing. i thought relative linking was a standard HTML practice.

also, it totally changed the size and formatting of the text.

ironically, the one thing i was worried about - the Javascript - works fine across platforms.

what gives?

What version of NEtscape was this other person using? The difference between NN7 & NN4.79 is like night and day. If it's 4.79, don't sweat it. This version is used by aboiut 2% of the market and is not worth your time trying to make it your pages work for it. There's always a better way...

actually, its the brand new version of netscape :<

i thought relative-position linking was pretty basic HTML; how can it work it one place but not in another?
