I am going to toss this out there and see if anybody remembers it and can refresh my memory.
Theres a trick you can do with the alt tag. sorta like the tooltip trick. but it is not. It looks very close to the title style thats done in css.
I think it was claimed as being a IE only thing but the first time I run across it Was back when the only browser I would run was netscape, and it worked for me.
You have to put this in the head of the html doc to get it to work but once it is there any image link you have with alt text will show the text when you pass your mouse over it. giving you a good way of showing why the image is there and it does not effect the way alt is read by text only browsing. I just cannot remember how to do it and cannot find a website that uses it.
