How do I enable .htaccess files for user accounts?? i have then enabled for the main web /var/ , but what lines need to me added/modifed to the httpd.conf file to allow users to have .htaccess files?

Hi,

You should just need 'AllowOverride' for the relevant directories. Something like :

<Directory /home/*/public_html>
AllowOverride FileInfo AuthConfig Limit
Options MultiViews Indexes SymLinksIfOwnerMatch IncludesNoExec
<Limit GET POST OPTIONS PROPFIND>
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Limit>
<LimitExcept GET POST OPTIONS PROPFIND>
Order deny,allow
Deny from all
</LimitExcept>
</Directory>

Or, simpler, 'AllowOverride All' ...

However, bear in mind the security -->
Hope this helps
