htaccess question

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I tried searching htaccess and hta on tek-tips and came up with nothing and this is the closest area to it.

I have a flash image viewer on my web site that works, and only works, when my hotlinking protection is OFF. When it's on, it doesn't load any images.

Now for the life of me I can't, and either can a few people who have been trying to help, figure out how to get the paths to work inside the Flash to make this happen.

Someone suggested there may be something I can do with the .htaccess file my webhost setup in my account. Anyone know if it's possible to make a very specific /home/user/public_html/pictures/viewer.swf be the exception to the no hotlink rule? I added it via Cpanel to the okay URLs (as the url, not the path) and it didn't give.

From my experience of .htaccess it can only be used to protect an entire folder (the folder it resides in) and i'm not sure you can set exceptions, but i may be wrong.

I've not used hotlink before and cant really offer any reccomendations on it.

So what is your hotlinking protection? How, exactly, is it not working? Is it refusing to load the viewer, or does the viewer load but the images not appear?

Without seeing some actual code it's hard to offer any useful help.

It's allowing the viewer to work but not any images to load IN the viewer.
